Frontier Town
In my travels through New York state I came across Frontier Town, a theme park based on the Wild West. As I walked past the private property signs, as I usually do, I realized that this place was a treasure trove of decaying buildings. At it’s peak in the 1960s into the 1970s, Frontier Town brought […]
Weekend in Sharon Springs
Some assorted photos from our guys weekend in Sharon Springs, NY. Clams, hiking, beer, chicken wings, and volleyball–what a weekend. Thanks Dave!
The Pines Resort
It was getting late during my trip to upstate New York, but there was still just enough light to take in all of the creepiness of The Pines Resort in South Fallsburg. This place was almost begging me to enter–completely open gate and no security! Most of the buildings were deteriorated so much that the […]
Abandoned Pool
Seems like anywhere you pull over in the Catskills you end up stumbling upon more urban decay. As I was searching for Kutsher’s Country Club, I found this gem–a completely abandoned indoor pool which was part of a community of uninhabited small homes. I think I’ll adhere to the posted no diving policy!
Kutsher’s Country Club
Tucked away in the quiet town of Monticello, NY, lies what’s left of the legendary Kutsher’s Hotel and Country Club. Once a stop for performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Woody Allen and Dean Martin, it now sits abandoned and partly demolished. Kutsher Road, now a ghost town of discarded homes, is closed off to traffic, making […]
Catskill Game Farm
The Catskill Game Farm was a zoo that closed in 2006 after 73 years of operation. I took the 3 hour ride to the Catskills to check out this urban decay hotspot. If you’ve never been to the Catskills, be prepared–it’s a totally different world. I had to stop myself from pulling over every five […]
Medfield Dormitory
This dormitory is located near the Medfield State Hospital. I’m not exactly sure what it was used for, but it was clear that it housed people with addictions. At the time I visited this structure, it was in the process of being torn down, so it’s most likely no more. I’m glad I was able […]
Medfield State Hospital
It’s well known that the Medfield State Hospital was the site for movies like Shutter Island and The Box. The hospital was closed in 2003 and the grounds are now open to the public, although the buildings themselves are locked down like Fort Knox. It’s a bit eerie walking around the enormous complex–all 58 buildings are shut […]
Westborough Crematorium
I took a recent trip to the abandoned Westborough, MA, crematorium. It was once part of the Westborough Insane Hospital, also now abandoned. It sits deep in the woods, protected by swarms of mosquitos. Here are a few shots I was able to take before being eaten alive!
Westborough State Hospital
The Westborough State Hospital closed in 2010, but the abandoned buildings are tightly sealed and patrolled by security. Needless to say, it was difficult to snap many pictures. Eventually, after a few hours of darting behind buildings, I was stopped by security and told to leave. I was able to get inside the deserted greenhouse. […]
